Situated on the edge of the River Lune, a short walk to the north of the city centre, St George's Quay was built in 1750, during Lancaster's Golden Age as a port. The Halfway Wash Trail is a part of this system and serves the northern part of the city. Total climbing: 37m, This walk starts from the end of the Fitzpatrick Park driveway and follows the Georges River. The Georges River area has a number of walkways and cycle routes which provide an easy way to explore the area, many of which offer beaufiful views of the Georges Rivers and our bushland reserves. Caution: very sharp left turn at bottom of hill to enter the bridge.

Comments: We picked up a 2019 St. George Park & Trail System Map & Guide. The walk heads downstream along the waters edge, through the park and across the bridge, to the half way point at Henry Lawson Drive. From here the walk continues along a series of bush tracks, winding along the ridge, around to the Georges River National Park driveway. The Virgin River South Trail is a part of the St. Georges trail system.
